New vs Used: When Each Makes Sense
Used pallet racking can save 30-50% compared with new and is the right choice for most SME projects. It comes from major brands, in serviceable condition, with full SEMA-aligned engineering checks and the same load notices and inspection regime as new.
New racking makes sense when you need specific brand matching to existing stock, when galvanised cold-store finish is required (used cold-store stock is rarer), or when finance terms make new more affordable than the up-front used price.
Finance, Lease and Phased Payment
We offer asset finance, operating lease and phased payment on most projects over £5,000, allowing SMEs to spread the cost over 2-5 years and smooth cash flow. Typical interest rates are competitive with high-street business finance, and approval times are 24-72 hours.
We also accept staged payment on phased installations — for example, deposit, payment on delivery and final payment on commissioning — which suits projects where the warehouse fit-out is happening in parallel with racking installation.

Free site survey within 7 days of enquiry. Quote within 5 working days of survey. Order acceptance, design freeze and delivery slot booked within 2-3 weeks. Installation typically 1-3 days for under 200 pallet positions, 1-2 weeks for 500-2,000 positions. SEIRS-aligned handover, load notices and O&M pack included.
Annual SEIRS inspections from £150-£300 per visit on small installations. PRRS training (half day) included for the first year on most projects.

Is used pallet racking safe for my business?
Yes — when it comes from a SEMA-grade supplier, has been engineering-checked, and is installed with current load notices. UM Storage Systems' used stock comes with the same SEIRS handover inspection as our new stock.
Can I get finance on a small racking project?
Most projects over £5,000 qualify for asset finance or operating lease. We can have a finance approval back within 24-72 hours of application.
